Research for your Legal Career

Preparing to get a job in the legal field requires research along the way.

You may need to research:

  • The geographic market where you are interested in working;
  • Legal employers in a specific practice area;
  • An employer before applying to be prepared to fill out an application;
  • A specific law firm, attorney, judge, case, private or public institution, government agency, industry or other person or organization to prepare for an interview.

Each of these may require a different type of research, approach, or online sources to get you the information you need to be prepared from day one of your legal career search process.

Each page on this Legal Career Research Guide covers a different type of employer and some helpful tips assist you with the process.

If you have questions about this Research Guide or researching specific employers, please reach out to a Law Librarian or email library@pennstatelaw.psu.edu
